Long Weekend Winter Itinerary at Falls Creek

Posted: Friday 12th May 2023

In preparation for the upcoming season, we’ve put together the perfect long weekend itinerary at Falls Creek. With so much to see, do and eat, it can be hard to know where to start. Let us take the stress out of planning your weekend with a guide for having the best time on the slopes!

Hit the road and make your way up Friday afternoon. To make the most of your long weekend, we suggest arriving in the village mid-afternoon on Friday. Not only does this let you beat the Saturday morning rush, but you can grab your rental gear from 3pm the day prior from any Falls Creek Sports store, which means you’ll be on the slopes even earlier Saturday morning! While you’re there, collect your lift tickets from our self-serve pick up machines located in our stores. To make the journey up as smooth as possible, pick up your snow chains from Ray's Ski Shop, and fill up with Alpine Diesel at Mount Beauty if your car is diesel run.

Check in to check out. You’ve grabbed your rental gear early, you’ve picked up your lift tickets, and you’ve checked into your accommodation, now the long weekend fun really begins! With 27 places to eat and drink across the village, it can be overwhelming to know where to try first. For an Asian fusion delight, head to Huski Kitchen, or if burgers are more your thing Cock n’ Bull is the place to be. If you’re looking to spice up your evening, Lakeside offers a Spanish-inspired menu.

Rise and shine, it’s slope o’clock. With your rental gear already set, make the most of your morning by stopping in at 1550 for a pre-slope coffee. Head up Halley’s Commet or Eagle Express and make your way over to our lesson's arrival centre in front of Cloud 9. As you’ve pre-booked your lesson online and saved up to 35%, you’ll be ready to learn all the turns and tips for a smooth weekend of riding.

Fuel up and enjoy the afternoon! Now you’ve had your first lesson, you’re ready to hit the slopes for an afternoon of fun. Make a quick stop in at Cloud 9 and treat yourself to a variety of lunch classics including pizza, pasta, salads and comfort food. Or, make an afternoon of it and enjoy après while appreciating the magnificent mountain views.

It’s time to warm up and wind down. After a big day on the slopes, treat yourself to a visit at Astra’s exceptional day spa for a full body massage or treatment. Now that you’re fully zen, it’s time to feast on the mountain's fine-dining experiences. Summit Ridge Restaurant offers a unique five or eight-course degustation menu, or if a taste of Asia is more your thing, head over to Bob Sugar.

Day two means more shred! For your second day on the slopes, get to know the vast range of runs we have across the mountain and practice your skills on our diverse terrain. Alternatively, turn up the adventure with a Falls Creek / Hotham Heli-Hop, which sees you taking a helicopter ride across to Hotham to experience another mountain for the day. With an Epic Australia Pass, there really is no limit to your snow adventures!

Cozy up for your last night. As it's your last night on the mountain, head over to Ory’s to enjoy a delicious cocktail and hearty dinner in their cosy venue. If you’re looking for something a little more energetic, hit up The Chophouse or Frying Pan Inn for music, wholesome food and great vibes!

Before you make the trip back home, squeeze in one last session on the slopes Monday. By now you should feel more confident in your abilities and may even have some favourite runs. Take a pit stop at Snonuts, located opposite the base of Halley’s Comet, to enjoy some deliciously hot n’ sweet treats.

Say goodbye to the mountain with a pit stop at Mount Beauty. As your alpine adventure comes to a close, stop in at the picturesque Mount Beauty, located at the base of the mountain. Not only is this a great place to refuel (both you and the car), but it’s an idyllic town to stretch your legs at before the drive home.

With an extensive food and beverage offering, a variety of accommodation types, beginner-to-advanced terrain and plenty of unique experiences to try, Falls Creek really is the place to be this winter!
