Transport Options

There are lots of options to get you from your home to ours. You can travel to Falls Creek by car, air, bus, or even private limo! Check out the options and information below to choose the one that works best for you.

If you choose to drive, Falls Creek is under 2 hours from Albury Wodonga, 4½ hours from Melbourne, or an easy day’s drive from Sydney.

Most access to Falls Creek is via Mount Beauty (located at the base of Falls Creek) and the beautiful Kiewa Valley. You can also drive to Falls Creek in just over an hour from Bright via Tawonga Gap.

Driving Tips

  • A good habit is to fill your car up before leaving Mount Beauty as there is no fuel available in Falls Creek

  • Ensure that you add antifreeze to your vehicle’s radiator in winter

  • Check that your vehicle’s battery is in good condition

  • Diesel vehicles should be filled with 'Alpine Mix' fuel, which is available in Mount Beauty

  • LP Gas vehicles perform best on petrol in alpine areas

  • Be sure to carry snow chains (it is a legal requirement) in winter

  • Consider using a ground sheet and gloves when fitting chains

  • Avoid sudden braking or acceleration on snow or ice

  • A windscreen scraper will go a long way to help clear ice from car windows

  • Bring a shovel to dig your car out of the snow when leaving (you never know when the next blizzard will hit)

Check out our Driving Tips Videos that will help make your journey to the snow an easy one!

Carrying Snow Chains

Carrying snow chains will not only keep you safe on the roads, but is a legal requirement in Victoria during winter. Before heading up the mountain make sure you hire out your Snow Chains at Ray's Ski Shop in Myrtleford.

Hiring a car

Hiring a vehicle is a great option if you're flying in from interstate or don’t have access to a vehicle. Pop Falls Creek in your GPS and in 4½ hours you will have arrived at your destination. Don’t forget to tell the hire company you're heading to the mountains as diesel vehicles require antifreeze. Chains will still be required on hire cars in winter as it is a legal requirement for all vehicles to carry them.
