Falls Creek Snow Jobs

Operations

Mountain Operations is one of the largest departments in the resort and is responsible for everything from the bottom of the slopes to the highest peaks. All roles will require you to be involved in working outdoors in variable weather conditions.

Lift Operator
Provide the frontline point of contact for our guests and need a high level of physical fitness and can-do attitude. Their primary responsibility is to ensure our guests' safety as they ride our ski lift system.

Groomer Operator
Maintain and ensure all runs are in pristine condition for our guest’s enjoyment throughout the resort. This role involves shift work and experience working in a ski resort is essential.

Snowmaker
Monitor snowmaking equipment to ensure the highest quality of snow is being produced whilst assessing the temperature and weather conditions. This role involves shift work and experience using automated snowmaking technology or outdoor work within a ski resort is essential.

Resort Services

The Resort Services Department offers customer service-based roles throughout the resort from hire and retail to guest services assistants.

Guest Service Assistant
Guest service assistants are customer service stars who go above and beyond to help create lasting memories for our guests. Assist in selling and validating our tickets, passes and Snowsports lesson products as well as providing information on the resort.

Retail & Rental Hire Attendants
Our retail and rental attendants are fountains of knowledge when it comes to the latest tech and best fit of equipment and outerwear for each customer. From experienced rental technicians and boot fitters to retail and hire attendants – if you know the gear and love providing outstanding customer service, we have a place for you.

Snowsports School

The Snowsports Department offers positions ranging from fully qualified ski and snowboard instructors through to those who have never seen snow but really enjoy working with children or have an administration background.

If you have a passion for snow and an eagerness to help others, then we want you to join our Snowsports team! Develop your skills in an exciting and fulfilling environment while making lifelong friendships and helping our guests make the most of their winter holiday.

Certified Snowsports Instructor
Certified, experienced instructors with teaching experience that align and advanced skiing or riding ability.

Uncertified Snowsports Instructor
Intermediate and advanced skiers and/or snowboarders who are passionate about snow and eager to learn how to teach others.  

Since it is required that all instructors are certified, Falls Creek Snowsports School will provide on-snow APSI (Australian Professional Snowsports Instructor) Level One Training and your first APSI Level One Examination at no cost to successful uncertified applicants. Plus, all our instructors receive ongoing professional training throughout the term of their employment.

Snowsports Support Crew Worker
Snowsports support crew workers are our support team for the Falls Creek Kids Department and love nothing more than helping our younger guests enjoy their experience.

Snowsports Race and Events Worker
Experienced skiers & riders with race and events experience who facilitate epic on-snow events for our guests and staff, specialising in alpine racing, freestyle and recreational events. 

Junior Instructor (16-17 years)
This is a support role to senior instructors working with the Falls Creek Kids program. Duties include assisting with teaching area set up, guest check-in, class level assignments and shadowing senior instructors while teaching a class. This position will provide an instructor certification and real teaching experience and prepare our Juniors for a future career as a snowsports instructor!

Falls Creek Ski Lifts (FCSL) operates within Falls Creek - Victoria’s largest alpine resort.

We are owned by Vail Resorts and are the largest operator within Falls Creek, responsible for ski field operations including snow grooming, snowmaking, lift operations, Snowsports school, ticket sales, guest services, retail, equipment hire, maintenance, races and events, media and marketing, and much more.

Working at Falls Creek means you’ll be able to explore the whole resort. Falls Creek boasts a massive 450 hectares of skiable terrain - the largest of any resort in Victoria. With roughly 90 runs accessed by 14 lifts, there is something to suit everybody's ability. It's a challenging, fun workplace where you'll learn new skills in an amazing natural alpine environment and make lifelong friendships.

We operate year-round with a permanent workforce of around 50 employees. During our winter season (June to October) we hire a huge range of snow jobs and our numbers grow to a whopping 450!

There's no better place in Australia to work in the snow than the Falls Creek village. A true winter wonderland, Falls Creek has the only ski-in-ski-out village in Australia. You’ll discover a variety of restaurants, cafes and pubs as well as a supermarket, medical centre and a number of retail and rental outlets.


Is there staff accommodation available?

Falls Creek Ski Lifts provides a limited amount of accommodation for employees in both company owned and privately leased properties in Mt Beauty and surrounding areas as well as on-mountain at Falls Creek.

Falls Creek Ski Lifts employees who request staff accommodation may be housed in either dorm or apartment style housing in Falls Creek or the beautiful Mt Beauty (village at the base of the mountain).

The advantages of living in Mt Beauty include the beautiful lake and rivers, with plenty of activities to keep you entertained. You can enjoy bush walking, horse riding, road and mountain biking, fishing and going to the gym. The village boasts a larger and more affordable supermarket than on mountain, among the local boutiques including yoga, cafes and eateries. Only 30 minutes from Falls Creek, Mt Beauty is a great option to secure accommodation privately or through staff accommodation.

The advantages of living in Falls Creek include the handy access to the slopes for work or play! Most of our staff accommodation on-mountain is in 2-4 share dorm rooms, and you will have the option to request one other employee that you would like to share with.

We will provide further information on how to request staff accommodation once you receive an offer of employment.


How do I get to Falls Creek?

If you are travelling to Falls Creek internationally, there are daily services from Sydney, Melbourne and Canberra that fly into Albury Airport. You can book these flights with REX and QantasLink.

Alternatively, you can fly to Tullamarine Airport in Melbourne. Here you can either book a connecting flight to Albury Airport or utilise a coordinated Falls Creek Coaches service that is timed to meet flights arriving at Tullamarine Airport.


Resort Entry & Parking

All vehicles entering Falls Creek during the winter season are required to have a Resort Entry Permit for the duration of the stay. Resort Entry fees are charged by Falls Creek Resort Management, and you can find out more here. The employee services team will provide further information on Resort Entry Permits to successful applicants.

It is a legal requirement for all vehicles, including 4WDs, entering the resort to carry correctly fitting snow chains during the designated winter season. Chains can be hired or purchased in Mt Beauty, Bright and Myrtleford. There is no overnight parking within the village during the season. If you are bringing a car you must park it in the long term carpark.

 

Public Transport

Regional Rail Services are a cost-effective way of traveling most of the way to get to the snow, and public transport options are available across Victoria and News South Wales to get you most of the way to Falls Creek.

The rail line between Melbourne and Sydney passes through both regional hubs of Albury and Wangaratta. V/Line and NSW TrainLink services each pass through these hubs several times a day, giving you flexibility to coordinate with connecting transport for the remaining journey.

Once you arrive at the train station, catch connecting transfer services direct to Falls Creek with our friends at Falls Creek Coaches. Advanced bookings are essential. 

 

What do I need to bring?

How do I apply?

Go to the Falls Creek Careers Center.

Click “Search” and then click on the title of the position that you wish to apply for.

Check the job description and click on “Apply Now” to start your application.

When do applications open?

Applications for winter season employment open in the first few months of the year. You can complete an expression of interest in the Falls Creek Careers Center to be notified when applications are open.

We also recruit for many roles all year round, so keep an eye out as there may be something for you!

How do I log into the online portal?

Go to the Falls Creek Careers Center.

Use your email address and password to log back into your account at any time.

If you have forgotten your password, click "Forgot Password?" and a reset link will be emailed to you.

How do I attach my resume?

Click "Browse" and select the document you wish to attach.

You must click on the "Attach" button to upload your resume. You have correctly attached your resume if you can see the document name under “Resume.”

Make sure to save before you close the webpage.

Can I attach a new resume?

Yes. You may login to your account and upload a new resume and update any of your personal details at any time.

Go to “My Info” then scroll down to resume. You will have to remove your current resume before attaching a new one.

Can I attach separate cover letters if I am applying for more than one position?

To submit a revised cover letter, please email your letter to human.resources@vailresorts.com.au.

How can I check on the status of my application?

Login and go to “My Jobs” and you will be able to see the status of each application.

Can I change my email address?

Yes. To change your email address, login and go into “My Info”. Enter your new email address in the email address text box.

My password is not working

You can request a new password here. If you have tried to log in and have 5 failed attempts your account will lock automatically.

To unlock your account, please contact human.resources@vailresorts.com.au. We will unlock your account and send you a new temporary password.

Can I apply for more than one position?

Yes, we recommend that you apply for no more than three vacancies at any one time. If you have been listed as unsuccessful for one position, you may apply to another position.


International Applicants

Do I need a visa?

Anyone working for Falls Creek must have the right to work legally in Australia. This means you will need a visa with work rights.

The most popular type of visa to work at Falls Creek for young adults is the 'Working Holiday Maker Visa' for those who want to extend a holiday and work in Australia to fund it.

For some skilled roles such as certified, experienced Snowsports Instructors, Groomers and Snowmakers we will support successful candidates that are not eligible for a WHV to gain a suitable work visa for Australia. The Talent Acquisition team will contact successful candidates that are foreign residents with further information.

Can I extend my working holiday visa with you?

To apply for your second or third visa and check your requirements click here: Working Holiday (subclass 417)  or here: Work and Holiday (subclass 462). 

Unfortunately, working with us does not qualify as 'specialised work' in regional Australia for the purposed of extending a Working Holiday Visa.

What are the language requirements?

Falls Creek is an Equal Opportunity Employer and welcomes foreign applicants and those from diverse cultures.

All our employees must be able to communicate clearly with co-workers and guests in English, for safety and customer service. Please be prepared to go through the interview process and supply your resume in English.

What is a Tax File Number?

As part of being employed in Australia, you will need to obtain a Tax File Number (TFN). You can apply online for your TFN once you are in Australia and should do this directly with the Australian Tax Office (ATO) here.

Obtaining a TFN is FREE. Do not be scammed into paying companies to obtain a TFN on your behalf.

Tax will be withheld from your pay, and you may need to lodge a tax return each year. The requirement to lodge a tax return will depend on how much income you earn during the year. You are a “working holiday maker” if you have a Working Holiday (subclass 417) or Work and Holiday (subclass 462).

What is Superannuation?

Australian Superannuation is a form of saving for retirement in Australia. Your employer must make regular payments into a fund for employees towards their future pension. Simply, ‘Super’ is money put aside by your employer over your working life for you to live on when you retire from work. Your employer will open a Superannuation account for you if you do not elect to supply an existing fund.  

International employees leaving Australia can apply to have Superannuation paid as a Departing Australia Superannuation Payment (DASP). You can find more information on the Australian Taxation Office website.


Offers and Contracts

What should I do if my contract details are incorrect?

Email human.resources@vailresorts.com.au along with details of your concern and HR will address the issue and reply to you in a timely manner. Please include a copy of any qualifications/certificates that might affect your rate of pay. 

Can I apply to work for a different department?

New applicants can apply for up to three roles that they feel suit their interest, skills and experience.

If you have worked for Falls Creek previously and would like to apply to a different department you will need to log into the Falls Creek Jobs website and apply for the role you would like to change to. 

How will I receive my offer of employment?

Successful applicants will have an employee profile created and receive an electronic letter of offer containing all details of the position offered. As a successful applicant you are required to either accept or decline your offer by the expiry date. Once an offer is accepted, you will receive further pre-employment onboarding activities to complete.
