Ruined Castle & Scott opening Saturday!

Posted 19 June 2025

We’ve had 15cm of fresh snow this week, topping up the incredible early season conditions thanks to the massive 71cm snowstorm on opening weekend!

Temps dropped to a low of -5.6 degrees this week and the snowmaking team has been making the most of the chilly conditions with the snow guns running at every opportunity. We expect great snowmaking conditions throughout the rest of the week too.

With the top up of fresh snow and the snowmaking team working their magic since May, we’re excited to announce that Ruined Castle and Scott chairlifts will be open this weekend from Saturday 21 June!

The team are working hard to get this terrain ready to open and will spend the next few days grooming the runs, de-icing chairs, building ramps and doing final preparations to get the lifts open safely.

This opens up some incredible terrain with plenty of lifts spinning for the weekend. Dicky Knees will also be open so you can stop in for some lunch, coffee or afternoon snacks.

Please keep in mind to expect early season conditions on the trails running from Cloud 9 to the bottom of Scott’s. For the best access, catch Eagle Express from the Village Bowl and ride down from there.

The mountain is looking fantastic all covered in white, and there are bluebird days in the forecast for the rest of this week so it’s the perfect time to get out there!

There is even more fresh snow in the Weatherzone forecast next week, with up to 60cm on the radar! This winter is shaping up to be one for the books.

Group Lessons for adults and kids kick off this weekend too! Whether you’re a first-timer or a seasoned rider, our passionate instructors will help you level up your skills, explore new parts of Falls Creek, and make some new friends along the way!

Check out our June deals, book your lessons and rentals, and lock in your winter escape now. With so much terrain open, you won’t want to miss it.
