I've got the job! What happens next?

 

Once you have accepted your employment offer and completed all required onboarding activities then your main point of contact will be your manager. They will be in contact with you regarding your start date and first day of work. Keep in mind, most start dates are snow dependant. We understand you are eager to arrive and get started as soon as possible. If, at any time, you are unsure on anything regarding your employment send an email to employment@fallscreek.net and one of the team will respond to you.

 

Please NoteDue to current travel restrictions into Australia, we will be unable to process applications from international candidates until further notice, unless applicants are currently already in Australia and in possession of a current visa with work rights. Working for Falls Creek Ski Lifts

We operate year-round with a permanent workforce of around 50 employees; during our winter season (June to October) our numbers grow to a whopping 450!

Those of you about to join the Falls Creek Ski Lifts family - relax - you are in good hands. More than 50% of our employees return year after year, and it's our return employees who'll teach you the ropes, helping you to feel confident in your new role and ensuring Falls Creek continues to deliver an Experience of a Lifetime to our guests. 

We suggest you arrive a few days before your first day of work so you can familiarise yourself with the area and check into your accommodation. Below are some key things to organise in advance of your arrival and during the first couple of days. We are positive you will have a great season as part of the Falls Creek Ski Lifts family and we’re looking forward to welcoming you to the team!

Clothing

While your body will acclimatise to the temperatures over the season, you're likely to feel the cold especially during the first few weeks. Although one bulky item of clothing can be convenient, it's not always practical. We suggest you bring a number of layers, so you can take off and put on what you need. There are plenty of retail outlets in and around Falls Creek with some great savings and specials. Uniforms will be issued to you once you commence employment and must only to be worn during work hours.

Staff Passes

Falls Creek Ski Lifts employees are provided with a free lift pass which must be on you at all times whilst on duty. The lift pass gives you access to all 14 lifts and includes night skiing. As a Falls Creek Ski Lifts employee, your pass also allows you to access free ski and/or snowboard lessons during the season; lessons must be booked through the Snowsports School and restrictions apply on weekends and school holidays. You must show your pass at Falls Creek Ski Lifts retail outlets to receive your discount when purchasing any product.

Staff passes can be collected from a designated ticket office during business hours, unless otherwise advised by your Manager. Only once all assigned pre-employment onboarding activities have been completed will your lift pass be activated.

Resort Entry

Resort Entry Permits are required for all cars parked on mountain during the designated snow season.

Two options are available for staff; in resort parking at a discounted rate of $375 or free parking located just out of the resort on Road 24 (permit required).

To obtain a resort entry pass for your car, you must:
1. Accept your letter of offer
2. Complete your on-boarding and then
3. Go to Falls Creek Resort Management Office on mountain to make your purchase, or arrange a permit to park on Road 24.

IMPORTANT: No staff passes will be issued by Falls Creek Resort Management on Opening Weekend. Please arrange your car pass before or after the Opening Weekend.

Purchasing Equipment

There is no shortage of options for purchasing equipment once you arrive in Falls Creek. If you've never been to the snow before, we suggest you hire your skiing or snowboarding equipment, take a few lessons and then decide which is for you.

Living at Falls Creek

Falls Creek Ski Lifts employees who request staff accommodation may be housed in Falls Creek, basing you on snow. An advantage of living on-mountain is the handy access to the slopes for work or play.

The village itself is compact and relatively easy to get around. You’ll discover a variety of restaurants, cafes, pubs, a supermarket, a number of retail and rental outlets and a medical centre.

There is no overnight parking within the village during the season. If you are bringing a car you must park it in the Long Term carpark. Depending on when you arrive, you may be able to drive your car to your accommodation to unload your belongings. If the village has moved to ski-in, ski-out (snow on roads), or you arrive after June 25th, you will require accommodation transfers in a snowcat, this is approximately $25 and can be arranged on arrival with the Accommodation Transfer Service (ATS).

Road Conditions

It is a legal requirement for all vehicles, including 4WDs, entering the resort to carry correctly fitting snow chains during the designated winter season. Chains can be hired or purchased in Mt Beauty, Bright and Myrtleford.

Make sure you get your car serviced prior to heading to Falls Creek, as the cold can play havoc. Cars require anti-freeze coolant and a good trick is to add a little methylated spirits to your windscreen wiper water, to help stop it freezing.

Diesel vehicles will also need to fuel up in one of the local towns with Alpine Diesel, if this is not yet available, you can purchase blue additive from the Tawonga South Caltex.

Should you be in a carpool with a fellow staff member or housemate, don't forget your manners! The offer of a little cash towards petrol will no doubt be gratefully received. 

Onboarding Requirements

To help you learn more about the resort before you start at Falls Creek, you are required to complete a number of online activities (also known as 'online induction'). These online tasks can be completed either in sections or all at once. We are unable to assign a start date for you until your pre-employment training is complete.

How It Works:

All onboarding paperwork will be sent to your employee profile with an email notification, including a link to log into the Talent Centre. This electronic system is designed to improve turn-around times for contract paperwork, while contributing to our zero foot-print by 2030 initiative. We ask you complete these in a timely manner prior to their expiry date.

Things To Do:

  • e-Sign your Employment Offer/Contract
  • Update personal details in your employee profile, including:
  • Emergency contact details
  • Australian bank account
  • Superannuation information (include your membership number or complete the online application to join Hostplus as a new member)
  • Staff accommodation request form
  • Tax Declaration form
  • Attach a copy of your passport – To verify your Australian Working Rights
  • Add your Working Holiday and passport details (if applicable)
  • Complete any additional department-specific on boarding activities.

We require your e-Signature on all documents. We do not accept faxed or scanned copies.

First Day

We understand your first day can be daunting. Before you arrive your manager will be in contact with you to let you know exactly where you need to meet. 

The Falls Creek Ski Lifts Human Resources department are available prior to your arrival to answer any questions you may have.

Most seasonal start dates are snow dependant; we’re as eager as you for the snow to start falling and therefore appreciate your patience from the time you receive your employment offer and your actual start date. We will do our best to provide as much notice as possible to give you time to arrange your travel plans.
