Kids Snowsports Adventure Week – School Holidays!

The 5-Day Kids Snowsports Adventure Week will dive into a full week of skiing instruction, themed activities, scavenger hunts, and a friendly race to cap it all off. Every day brings a new challenge, new friends, and heaps of fun!

Monday 22 September - meet and hangout with Pete the Snowdragon!

Tuesday 23 September – a focus on safety, meet a ski patroller to learn all about mountain safety.

Wednesday 24 September – it’s scavenger hunt time!

Thursday 25 September - group race day! With the Dual GS Course open to the public on Saturdays, this is the perfect way to practice your skills through the gates.

Friday 26 September – fancy dress day with loads of fun snow games.

Spring is the perfect time to learn something new – whether that’s challenging yourself on new terrain or trying out skiing and boarding for the first time! Our lesson sizes are also smaller with no more than 6 guests in all Snowclub lessons this spring!

Snowclub is designed to introduce young skiers to the snow while ensuring their day is full of fun.

Full Day or Half Day Kids Lesson Programs

Snowclub is a great way for children to learn and progress, meet new friends, and explore the mountain. We offer full day or half day lessons for 3-6 year-olds.

Whether it is a first time ski experience, or your child is a seasoned skier, our friendly instructors will support your young ones to progress their skills in a fun and safe environment.

Your kids will enjoy a fun lesson filled with games, surprise visits from Pete the Snow Dragon, and on-snow activities.

Lunch and a light snack are included in both the Half Day and Full Day programs. Special dietary requirements will need to be provided at the time of booking.

Please note, Snowclub is a skiing program. For children that would like to learn to snowboard, consider a private lesson.

*Snowclub requires all children to be toilet-trained.

Here is a list of essentials to pack for your child’s Snowclub lesson:

A valid Mountain Access Card, with lift access and Snowclub loaded onto it - lift tickets can only be purchased online
Skis (poles if requested by your child’s Instructor)
Ski boots – these should be on your child’s feet when they arrive at Snowclub
Helmet (compulsory for all children & teens in Falls Creek Snowsports Programs)
Goggles and/or sunglasses to protect your child’s eyes from glare
Waterproof snow pants and jacket
Warm layers under outerwear – an extra layer of thermals can be stored at Snowclub
Ski socks (not cotton)
Waterproof mittens or gloves
Neck warmer/ tube or Balaclava
Sunscreen SPF 15 or higher
Any special nut free food and/or medications (note that our Children’s Snowsports Centres are nut free zones)

Falls Creek's Helmet Policy requires that all participants in Children's Snowsports Programs, plus any programs that access our terrain parks, race courses or similar activities wear an approved snowsports helmet. Click here to view Falls Creek’s Helmet Policy.

It's crucial that your child brings their prescribed EpiPen/Inhaler to every lesson. It is necessary for their safety that they have it with them at all times. If they don't have their EpiPen or Inhaler, they won't be able to attend lessons. This policy ensures that we can provide a safe learning environment for all students. Please note that staff are only able to administer medication in life-threatening situations. Should your child require any regular medication throughout the day, a parent or guardian will need to return to administer this medication as required.

Skiers:

Koala first time skiing or still learning how to stop using a snowplough. I am learning how to balance and slide on my skis with the goal being to make a snowplough stop.

Possum I can stop using a snowplough on beginner terrain. I am ready to learn how to make small turns.

Wombat I can confidently ski down green terrain in a snowplough using small turns. I am ready to learn to consolidate these snowplough turns on steeper terrain.

Echidna I can confidently make strong turns in a small snowplough down green and some blue terrain. I am ready to learn to match my skis at the end of my turns (basic christie).

Lyrebird I can confidently ski down blue terrain in a basic christie. I am ready to learn how to ski parallel.

Kangaroo I can confidently ski parallel down all blue terrain. I am ready to learn how to perfect my balance and control on steeper and ungroomed terrain. This level is learning to use poles and it is recommended but not mandatory to bring poles along to the lessons.

Lift access is not included in your Snowclub purchase and all participants require a valid lift ticket regardless of their ability level.

Children aged 3 & 4 participating in Snowclub are eligible for free lift access. Please note you will need to purchase your Snowclub lesson and then select the 4 and under lift access as an add on. You will also need to ensure your child has a valid Mountain Access Card.

Our Snowclub Lessons commence on 21 June, running through until 28 September. Private Lessons are available outside of these dates.

Tips for being on time:

Please plan to arrive early each day as this allows more time for a relaxed entry into the program for your child, as well as providing time to build rapport with the team.
Please arrive 10 minutes prior to the conclusion of lessons for pick up, as this provides time for the instructors to discuss the groups' activities of the day.

Meeting Area:

Snowclub is located next to Cloud 9 restaurant, at the top of Halley’s Comet Chairlift. Access Halley's Comet chairlift from Slalom. If you can ski or snowboard down advanced green runs, you can also access Snowclub by skiing or riding from Eagle Express to Cloud 9.

If you and/or your child have never skied before, we highly recommend that you utilise Halley’s Comet Chair and carry your skis on the lift to allow for easier and safer loading and unloading. Our friendly Lift Operators are on hand to ensure safe loading of you and your child.

When accompanying children on the lift, a valid lift pass is required. For non-skiing parents/guardians, you will be required to purchase a $6 Mountain Access Card to get on the lift.

When you arrive at Snowclub, please ensure we are aware of any learning difficulties that your child has such as ADHD and autism.

If you have a child aged 3-6 who is attending our Snowclub Program, let us make your life a little easier! If you rent their equipment through Falls Creek Sports, we will deliver their skis straight to the Snowclub building at Cloud 9 for you. That’s one less thing to worry about when catching the chairlift in the morning!

Start by having your child fitted for their rental equipment from a Falls Creek Sports outlet by 5:30pm the night prior to your child’s program commencement. Once fitted out, you’ll take your child’s helmet and boots with you, and we will transport their skis to Snowclub at Cloud 9.

On the morning of your child’s lesson, head straight to Halley’s Comet chairlift, take a hands-free ride up the chair and start your day in a care-free way.

What happens after the program? You can choose, either:

Have your little one take their skis with them to bring to Snowclub the next day.

Take the skis to Falls Creek Sports to either conclude your rental OR so we can arrange for them to be waiting for you again the next morning at Snowclub.

Or leave them at Snowclub (to either return the next day to use again OR for us to return back to rentals for you). Noting, we can only return skis back to Falls Creek Sports.

Please note this service is exclusive to children who are enrolled into a Snowclub Program and have rented equipment from Falls Creek Sports.

Frequently Asked Questions

Where do I drop off my kids?

Snowclub is located at Cloud 9 at the top of Halley’s Comet Chair. Please plan to arrive early for your lesson with all your rental equipment ready. Check in for Snow Club is between 9.15am and 9:30am, so make sure to leave enough time to catch the lift.

Once you arrive at Snowclub, our team will establish the correct level for your child to participate in.

Does my child need to have their skis or snowboard on?

If it your child’s first time skiing or snowboarding, we recommend you carry their skis/board on the chairlift. If your child is more confident riding lifts in their gear, they can wear their skis/board on the chairlift.

When you arrive at Snowclub you will be required to remove your skis as this is a ski free zone during check in.

I’m not skiing, how do I drop my child off?

If you are not skiing, we have a ‘Parent Access Pass’ available for purchase to escort your child to and from ski school. The Parent Access Pass allows foot access for 1x parent per paying child and allows 2x return trips daily on Halley’s Comet Chairlift at drop off and collection time from ski school.

This pass is $6 and can be loaded for as many days as children’s lessons are booked. Due to the safety risks with skiers and over snow vehicles, you are only permitted to drop off children at Ski School and enter Cloud 9 restaurant and are not allowed to walk on any ski run. 

The Parent pass is available for purchase at Falls Creek Sports, Slalom Plaza and Falls Creek Sports, Village Bowl. 

Please note: To be able to ride as a foot passenger each person must have the ability to move to the load point, ride and unload with minimal assistance. Infants are not permitted in baby carriers and must be able to walk with minimal assistance to purchase a pass. 

Should I pack snacks?

Lunch and a light snack are included for all Snowclub lesson programs. Please let our instructors know of any allergies before the lesson. Drinks are provided daily as required and on cold days hot chocolate is provided. You may also like to pack some snacks in your child’s pocket for during the lesson.

Can I stay and watch the lesson?

We appreciate it can be very nerve wracking to leave your child in a new environment and also exciting to watch them ski for their first time. To assist our team of professionals building a trusting rapport we ask that all friends and family members please leave the area promptly after check-in.

Having parents watching or check in throughout the lessons can be very disruptive to the lesson flow and can also upset your child. If you would like to watch your child learn to ski we kindly ask that you remain unseen and utilise the windows from inside Cloud 9 café.

My child has special needs; can they join into the group lesson?

Whilst we appreciate that parents may wish to have their child in group lessons for a number of reasons, many special needs children will often have a far better experience with one-on-one instruction with our team members who have undertaken certifications to best cater to these students. My child has a food allergy; do I need to pack their own lunch?

No. We will provide lunch for all the children and can cater to any allergy. Please note that our lunches are prepped in a commercial kitchen and traces of allergens may be present.

My child has special dietary requirements/allergies. How do I ensure the lunch caters to their needs?

We can cater to all allergies and dietary requirements. To ensure your child is appropriately catered for please make sure to fill in all relevant information into the dietary/allergy sections upon registering for the program. Instructors will also ask each child in their group for allergies prior to leaving the meeting area as an extra check for catering purposes on the day.

My child requires medication and/or an EpiPen/Inhaler. What do I need to bring?

If your child is prescribed with a an EpiPen and/or Inhaler please bring all necessary medications and an action plan along to your lessons daily.

My child does not want to wear their ski boots on the chairlift up. Can I carry them?

Yes - you can bring your child to Snowclub wearing their snow boots and change into their ski boots in when you check them in. We are able to store the snow boots for the day if required.

Terms and Conditions

Children participating in any programs will need a valid lift ticket or Epic Australia Pass to participate.
A Mountain Access Card is required when purchasing a lift ticket and lesson products. These cards can be reloaded (not only this season but in future seasons. The Mountain Access Card fee is $6.00.
The Mountain Access Card fee is applicable for guests who do not already have a re-loadable Falls Creek, Hotham and Perisher Mountain Access Card.
If a card is lost or stolen, a replacement card will be required to be purchased.
Snowclub caters to skiers only. Junior Workshop cater for both skiers or boarders.
All tickets are for consecutive days.
All children need to be at least 3 years of age and completely toilet trained to attend any of our snowsports programs. If your child is 2 years old and would like to give skiing a try, this can be arranged via a private lesson.
