Ride the mountain like the locals do!

Posted: Thursday 27th July 2023

For many people visiting Falls Creek for the first time, Slalom Plaza is the place to start your day. It has Halley’s Comet chairlift which takes you direct to our Snowsports School area, and the beginning of many green and blue runs. Plus, with Falls Creek Sports right there to pick up your lift tickets and rentals, everything you need is in one spot. The only thing you may notice - it does get very crowded there, especially on weekends and in the morning.

If this is not your first time on snow, why not try a new way to start your day? Not only is it fun doing something a little different, it might just get you out on the slopes even quicker!

Instead of beelining for Slalom Plaza, head to Gebi’s which is located on Bogong High Plains Road just after the entry sign to the resort. Pick up your lift tickets from the Gebi’s building, then jump straight on Gully Chairlift which will take you to the Village Bowl. From there you can pick up your rentals at Falls Creek Sports and head to the slopes via Eagle Express. Watch our video to see how!

You can still access Cloud 9, Snowsports School and Drovers side of the mountain from the top of Eagle. Simply turn left of the chair and follow the signs for Cloud 9!

Did you know we also have multiple on-mountain restaurants for you to have a pit stop at? While Cloud 9 is the obvious one, if you’re on Scott or Ruined Castle side of the mountain, make sure to pop into Dicky Knees for a Bavarian-style feed, including kransky and pretzels! Doing laps of Towers side? Blue Brumby is the place to be for deep-fried goodness and delicious hot chocolates.

Starting your day another way can not only be a fun experience, but it’ll give you exposure to different parts of the mountain (and even beat the crowds). See you at Falls Creek soon!
