Lift Start-Up at Falls Creek
For many of us, our day on the slopes starts when we make our way out of our accommodation after a cosy sleep in and breakfast. For our de-icing and start-up teams, days can start as early as 3am to ensure lifts are spinning from 8.30am for guests.
After snowfalls, our early morning teams battle the icy, freezing conditions to have lifts operational and ready to transport guests across the mountain. Some days, the ice and snow build up can be so intense that lift operations may be delayed. Watch our video below for a glimpse into how our teams get our lifts ready for guests to board.
Filmed earlier in the season during a snowstorm, this video shows the level of ice and snow that can build up on lifts, and the work it takes from our incredible teams to have it removed so lifts can spin safely.
Guest safety is paramount at Falls Creek, and while openings may sometimes be delayed, these occur to ensure our guests get out on the mountain safe and sound.
