Falls Creek Freeride Junior 2*

Posted: Sunday 9th August 2026

Falls Creek has just hosted its first ever Freeride World Tour Junior 2* event! The best junior freeriders across Australia and New Zealand descended on Falls Creek to take part in the first Freeride event of the southern season. An incredible 120 riders threw down their best on Rapunzel’s to the cheers of those on Tower’s chair and spectating from Blue Brumby.

The stoke was high as athletes navigated the playful natural terrain, dropping cliffs, spinning off features, arcing turns and putting their own style into every line. With Freeride set to make its Olympic debut at the France 2030 Winter Olympics, the pathway for young athletes has never been more exciting, with many already dreaming of future Olympic glory.

Conditions were primed after the fresh snow earlier in the week and the sun shining through for the event day. Riders were able to unleash their talent and showcase their best to the spectators and judges. The international judging panel were blown away at the level of riding and can’t wait to see the progression of the Australian Freeride scene in the coming years.

A huge congratulations to every athlete who competed and helped make Falls Creek’s first Freeride World Tour Junior 2* such a memorable event. From technical lines and big airs to plenty of support from the sidelines, it was an incredible celebration of junior freeride.

Thank you to the event crew, volunteers, judges, families and supporters who helped bring the event to life, along with our event partners Volkl, XTM and X-Dream.

We can’t wait to see where this next generation of freeriders goes from here!
